Pumpkin Craft

This craft was someone else's idea. The fence boards were already nailed together for me and all I had to do was paint them and attach the leaves.

The pumpkin is intended to have one side as a plain pumpkin and when you flip it over you'd have a jack-o-lantern face. I ended up only painting one side of each and added a face to only one.

The face can be painted on but I used felt. I had the idea of gluing velcro on the pumpkin and having different shapes cut out of the felt that you can change up depending on what you want your jack-o-lantern to look like.

The curling vines are just wire with floral tape wrapped around them.

I sewed the edges of my fabric leaves just to add a little texture...not necessary.

Frame Collage

Justin and I really enjoy having paintings hung on the walls in our home. We have several of his originals up as well as originals from other artists we like. Dispersed in there are some prints of Whistler, Homer, Degas, and others. Because of this, I didn't really have very many photos of my family around the house. It took me several months to decide how I would display them. I wanted to display it artfully and found several ideas from Domino Magazine. I ended up using inexpensive fames from IKEA and stained them. I have yet to decide on which photos to include in the collage.

My mailbox. Simple things can make such a difference. My dad reinforced the base of the post with cement and added wood strips on each side of the post. I painted it white and  cleaned up the numbers (which are brass but look black...I sort of like it that way so I'm not looking to clean them up anymore.) Just having the white underneath helped the numbers "pop" which is good because you couldn't see the numbers at night.
