Memorial Day Weekend 05/25/2009
I learned about another tradition in the Clayton family this weekend. Every year, rain or shine, on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend a trip is planned to clean the family headstones. Anyone who can make it is invited. Both Justin's dad and Judy have family there so we cleaned all the headstones with Ajax (I'd never heard of using Ajax but it does a nice job), cut back the grass around the headstone and left potted flowers. I've never met any of these ancestors and it was nice to hear the family reminisce about them. Justin's grandfather, John, went by "Jack." We're naming our son after him, Jack, so going to the cemetery and seeing his headstone was special for me. Commentskristen joy 05/25/2009 13:58
wow, thats cool how they clean it and take care of it. I have never lived near a family graveyard, but have visited in Utah when I've gone. How great to name your son Jack, thats a really cute name!
