My life-long friend, Jessica, painted these tulips and I'm so excited to finally have them in frames and on my dining room wall. Thank you Jessi. Memorial Day Weekend 05/25/2009
I learned about another tradition in the Clayton family this weekend. Every year, rain or shine, on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend a trip is planned to clean the family headstones. Anyone who can make it is invited. Both Justin's dad and Judy have family there so we cleaned all the headstones with Ajax (I'd never heard of using Ajax but it does a nice job), cut back the grass around the headstone and left potted flowers. I've never met any of these ancestors and it was nice to hear the family reminisce about them. Justin's grandfather, John, went by "Jack." We're naming our son after him, Jack, so going to the cemetery and seeing his headstone was special for me. A boy! 05/19/2009
We're having a baby boy. I'm skipping the crotch shot and instead sharing a cute little arm and leg. Vincent visit 05/14/2009
My sister and her family came to visit last weekend. She and her husband celebrated their 10th anniversary at the Anniversary Inn while Justin and I tended the kids. They're so fun to be with and I'm glad they came. The evening they returned home and Justin and I were eating dinner alone, he said, "It's too quiet without them." We miss them. House update 05/14/2009
We're still working on the house. My parents spent over a week working on it with Justin while I went to work and couldn't wait to stop by every night and see the progress...and them. We now live in the home but there are lots of projects still to keep us busy. BEFORE: IN BETWEEN: AFTER: YARD BEFORE: Since the home had been empty for over half a year...the yard really needed some work. We still have a long way to go but it is really coming along. My mom is great in the yard and worked really hard out there. She helped me pick out some plants for the front of the house and bought them for me as a birthday gift. YARD AFTER: I've always wanted tulips in my yard...a bunch of them just started cropping up all over the place. I love spring. Birthday 05/14/2009
My sister-in-law had a little combined birthday party for her daughter (2) and me (32). Our birthdays are the 1st and the 5th of May. It was a fun evening with family. It had just rained and this rainbow was so cheery behind her house. I'd like to make it known that I was a good sport and kept that hat on as long as I could possibly stand it. For some reason I felt really uncomfortable wearing it. Although, it did match my necklace. Tristin and Vicki are great ladies in my life. They're thoughtful and always good to me. Thanks to them we actually had a birthday party. Justin and I would have just spent the evening working on the house. |
