Spring 04/26/2010

With the warmer weather we've been spending more time outside. Jack loves to sit on the porch while I pull weeds and do other yard work.
Thanks for the hat dad.

Also, our neighbors are selling their house...we'll be sad if they move but hey, if you want to be our neighbor here is your chance! Seriously...let me know if you want more details.

A Different Snow 04/26/2010

A Different Snow

A different snow falls on the ground today.
The flakes of petals flutter gently down.
They cover all the earth as if to say,
That winter’s fled and summer’s gaining ground.

Unlike the hard and cold snow just gone by
That made a heavy chore of going out,
This different snow brings out a hopeful sigh
As flakes of spring lie softly all about.

Last year my parents came out to visit a lot as we were fixing up our new house. Our street is lined with Blossoming Pear trees and in April those white blossoms are so pretty. My dad wrote the above poem about them. Springtime is so welcome after the cold of winter.

Liz 04/26/2010

My friend, Liz, who I met in 1998,  is moving to Guatemala with her hubby today. They will be Peace Corps volunteers for over two years. I'll miss them. This was last week when we said our "good-bye."

I love this onesie that our friend Marisa sent to Jack. I'm so happy he finally fits into it.

Jack has been really wiggly and "talkative"...

P.S. Can you tell that Jack just ate something orange? (especially in the top picture)

While in California my mom had some frozen pureed vegetables that we warmed and fed to Jack. Yesterday I made my own baby food and froze most of it but saved enough to keep in the fridge for the week. Jack has tried all three vegetables and loves them.

Two good things about homemade baby food:
1.) I know Jack is getting the most nutritious food I can give him
2.) It is at least six times cheaper than purchasing already bottled baby food (based on the green peas recipe)
